📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:
1) A deadly crash left a 15-year-old boy dead on Sunday around 4 a.m. An SUV drove into a liquor store in the “1300 block of West 54th Street in Vermont Square.” The driver and two passengers escaped. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has not offered information about citations or arrests. Investigators did say that “the driver was traveling northbound on 54th Street and attempting to make a turn when the SUV veered into the structure.” (ABC)
2) A 20-year-old and a 19-year-old were arrested for allegedly robbing a man near 6th Street and La Brea Avenue. The crime occurred, and was caught on camera, on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. Police say the suspects stole a Rolex, which was recovered along with a gun. “Police said they believe both suspects may be wanted for other robberies in the Los Angeles area.” (Fox)
3) We’re number 1! The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) announced on Monday that L.A. was at the top of California cities for firearms recovery in 2021. The agency counted a total of 8,036 weapons. Sacramento is in second place with 2,246. At the bottom of the list is Modesto, with 699 firearms recoveries. (Los Angeles ATF)
4) If you’d like to live like a celeb, check out David Spade’s former abode. The actor listed the Trousdale Estates home for around $20 million in January. (He bought the place for $4 million in 2001.) Now, the new owner is listing the same home for $32.5 million. There’s no word about what increased the property’s value by $12.5 million in less than a year. (Forbes)
5) Lamina1 announced on Monday that it will host the Open Metaverse Conference at the Hudson Loft on 1200 South Hope Street.
