As we move through Q4, a number of projects are moving ahead with continued development, and this week’s choices are set to benefit from significant updates and announcements that should strengthen their market positions and benefit their communities. The news should also result in increased amounts of attention to each respective currency over the coming weeks.

3. Zcash (ZEC)

Why Zcash? NU5 Upgrades Completed This Week

The Electric Coin Company (ECC) team behind Zcash recently activated the testnet Network Upgrade 5 (NU5) for ZEC. The NU5 testnet activation was set at a block height of 1,599,200 and took place in early October. The upgrade included multiple Zcash Improvement Proposals (ZIPs), and is designed to move Zcash from zk-SNARKs, to the Halo proving system. This will essentially move Zcash away from a trusted setup system with the ZIP proposals scheduled to launch on the mainnet in October. With the month coming to an end we can expect some updates this week and ZEC has performed well over the last month. You can find out more about the testnet ZIPs here, and the proposed NU5 mainnet features here.

2. Secret Network (SCRT)

Enigma aims to enhance financial privacy by providing access to privacy enabled smart contracts. The Enigma project has launched its first mainnet, the Secret Network, a PoS blockchain based on Cosmos which is secured by the new native token called Secret (SCRT).

Why Secret Network? Iconic NFT Auction on November 02

After announcing the Stashh app which allows NFTs to be created, collected, and traded with privacy and access control secured by the Secret Network, the team have now announced their Iconic production house. In partnership with OpenSea, and a secret artist, seven unique NFTs will be released as part of a single collection in early November. The big reveal and sale will take place November 2 with the Secret Network Supernova Mainnet launch scheduled to take place on November 9. There is a lot happened on the Secret Network this month and you can find out more about the Iconic launch here.

Why Crypto.com Coin? Cronos Mainnet Launch on November 08

The long awaited Cronos mainnet will officially launch on November8 as the Crypto.org Chain, using CRO as its native currency. As a result of the launch, the Cronos chain will operate as a specialised blockchain infrastructure platform for payments, DeFi and NFT projects and decentralized applications. The new launch date has been confirmed by Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek, who also stated that issues related to the Gravity bridge module and go-Ethereum libraries were discovered during the Cassini incentivized testnet. The launch will also allow CRO holders to stake via the Crypto.com DeFi Wallet, and you can find out more about Cronos here.
